Paolo Portoghesi

He was born in Rome on November 2, 1931. An architect, a historian, an accademic, a writer, he has a deep knowledge of the Islamic world. He was at the head of the Architecture Department at the Politecnico of Milan, Director of the Biennale of Venice, faculty member at the Architectural School at the Sapienza University of Rome. He has designed buildings worldwide, including the Mosque in Rome, and has published numerous books. He lives in his “museum-home” in Calacata (VT) together with his wife Giovanna Massobrio. He tells us that he has always been inspired by Nature, geometric shapes and the greats of the past, “My Maestro Borromini…”
